It worked for Battlestar Galactica...

We all knew the producers of Veronica Mars are big fans of Battlestar Galactica. But who knew that love would extend beyond just incorporating the word "frak" into the show?

Should Veronica Mars survive into a fourth season, creator and producer Rob Thomas has a plan to jump the show's chronology ahead a few years and have Veronica taking classes at the FBI Acadamy. Thomas has prepared a test reel (which should be on U-Tube by the time I'm done writing this...) of the show's potential new direction to show to CW execs in an attempt to sway them into renewing the struggling (ratings wise) series.

This news comes on the heels yesterday of reports from E! On-Line that Veronica's fate had been decided and there would be no fourth season. There hasn't been any confirmation of this story or any comment from the CW or anyone involved with Veronica Mars.

I have a feeling this show's fate may depend a lot on of Alexis Bledel decides to come back for an eighth season of Gilmore Girls. If Gilmore is gone, I see Veronica's chances being better as a tent-pole show for CW.
